New History Book
The Chattahoochee County Historic Preservation Society is collecting biographies of local families, churches, schools, organizations, and businesses for a new history book for Chattahoochee County. The book also will feature historical photographs and documents and will include past and present photos submitted by those families and organizations participating in the project.

"The purpose in publishing the Chattahoochee County History Book is to preserve our county's history for our future genealogists and historians," says Judge Kenneth Van Horn, president of the Historical Society. “We are making history now and there is no better time than now to ensure that our local history is not lost or forgotten.”

The last definitive history of Chattahoochee County was written by N. K. Rogers in 1933. It is a 473 page book that is currently out of print.

In an effort to compile the most complete history of Chattahoochee County possible, the Historical Society will recruit a team of volunteers to write articles on various aspects of the county's history in what will be presented as a historical anthology. In addition, biographical submissions from local families, businesses, schools and churches, and clubs and organizations will be strongly encouraged.

“We really need to update the history of Chattahoochee County. A lot has happened since 1933. This will most likely be a multi-year project but it needs to be done.”

Chattahoochee County families wishing to submit biographies will be allowed up to 500 words and a photograph. Businesses, churches, schools, clubs and organizations will also be included in the book. Submissions are currently being accepted.

Submissions may be mailed to:
